2014 Harvest at Domaine CastelaS

The 2014 harvest is over – a month ahead of schedule. Mother Nature seriously tightened her belt.

If you haven’t seen the TV reports, be aware that olive production in the Mediterranean Basin is well down, and France is no exception.

This year, we must cope with a very small harvest, even smaller than in 2013. And in 2015, we will need to manage a shortage of oil.

This situation affects our ability to serve you.

As a result, we have decided to stop using our largest containers – such as the 3L bag in box 1L can – in order to satisfy as many people as possible.

Our remaining stocks of 3L BiBs and 1L cans are on sale in our online shop only.

In addition, we are obliged to increase our prices with effect from December 5th 2014 – a rare and hopefully temporary step.

On a more positive note, we have been able to produce the complete CastelineS Collection (Bio, Classic, Fruité Noir, Mas de l’Olivier, Aglandau and Seigneur des Baux). And be assured that all our olive oils are produced at CastelaS Mill using only French olives grown in the Appellation d’Origine Protégée “Vallée des Baux de Provence” area, or simply carry the “Huile d'Olive de France” wording, depending on where the groves are located.

This guarantee of origin is always shown on our labels.

So despite the shortage, you can still trust our products.

We felt it was important to keep you informed, and hope that you will kindly understand our predicament.
